50 marks of Grey

Ingredients:

seagate A2 cartridge sketchbook

naturally sourced charcoal lump (from local burnt tree)

large charcoal stick

small charcoal stick

square pastel

sketch stick (compressed charcoal)

nails (for scratched lines)

time:

15mins (walking)

45mins (drawing)

method:

choose a suitable location, something with strong compositonal values. Draw what you feel, making marks, working on the whole picture and, at first, mapping out tone and shape. Working in is fun, using fingers and nails. Wind noises and the distant barking of dogs or squeal of excited flying geese are optional. Finish with small marks of detail or movement.

Serve in a simple white mount and frame.
